Temples in Jaipur
Sacred temples & religious sites.
Jaipur is one of Rajasthan's great temple cities, with shrines ranging from grand royal-era temples to lively neighbourhood mandirs. The most visited is Govind Dev Ji, the royal family's temple inside the City Palace complex, where large crowds gather for the daily aarti. The hilltop Galtaji — popularly called the Monkey Temple — sits in a scenic gorge with spring-fed tanks, while the white-marble Birla Mandir is especially beautiful when lit up in the evening. Other well-known temples include Moti Dungri Ganesh, Garh Ganesh and the Sun Temple above Galta.
Most temples open early in the morning and again in the evening, often closing for a few hours in the afternoon, so check timings before you travel. Aarti times and festival days — especially around Janmashtami, Diwali and Gangaur — draw the biggest crowds and the most atmosphere. Dress modestly, remove footwear before entering, and be prepared to leave phones or cameras at the entrance of some shrines.
