Khole Ke Hanuman Ji Temple
Hillside Hanuman temple
About Khole Ke Hanuman Ji Temple
In the 1960s, residents of the city were reluctant to visit this secluded spot due to the rainwater drain flowing in the caves of the eastern hills and the fear of wild animals. When a courageous Brahmin ventured to this desolate spot, he discovered a massive statue of Hanumanji reclining on a mountain. Seeing the Lord in this desolate forest, the Brahmin began worshipping Lord Hanuman, the son of Maruti, and did not leave the place until his death. This ardent Brahmin devotee of Hanumanji of Khole was Pandit Radhelal Choubey. Choubey's lifelong hard work has transformed this desolate place into a picturesque tourist destination. In 1961, Pandit Radhelal Choubey established the Nar V R Ashram Seva Samiti to develop the temple. When this place was uninhabited, rainwater flowed from the caves of the mountains in the form of a khol. Hence, the temple was named Khol Hanumanji.
Spread across a green hillside, this popular Hanuman temple complex is known for its peaceful ambience, langar (community meal) and grand celebrations during Hanuman Jayanti.
