Makar Sankranti — The Kite Festival

On 14 January, the entire city takes to its rooftops for a day of spirited kite-flying to mark Makar Sankranti. Cries of "woh kata!" ring out as flyers try to cut each other's strings.

The Department of Tourism also hosts an International Kite Festival at the Polo Ground, where master kite-makers from India and abroad fly spectacular creations.
